The Chess Pieces
Each chess piece is prized boxwood hand-turned on wood working lathes and hand-sanded by highly skilled craftsmen in India. Pieces are then lacquered to a silky smooth finish in deep rich colors to bring out the details and beauty of the natural wood. A weighted base prevents accidental tip overs while the fine green felt bottom cushions and protects the pieces and board.

 
 

The Chess Board
The maple, in-laid wood chess board, conditioned with marquetry and veneers, has been customized in Spain. This fine wood has been carefully selected for color, uniformity and overall quality. This special selection process creates a chess board that perfectly matches the pieces while maintaining form, function and aesthetic values. The chess board utilizes an ultraviolet drying process and is finished off with fine varnish to create a high-gloss finish that is glare resistant and durable.
